Spring brings a positive mood to the labour market

As of February 2017, the labour market is looking in good condition. The employment agency for the region of Ulm calculated that the number of unemployed people fell by 250 to 9,200. This led to a reduction of 0.1 per cent in the unemployment rate, bring it to 3.2 per cent. Once again, Ulm has the best employment rate in the State of Baden-Württemberg. In the Neu-Ulm district, the unemployment rate fell by 0.1 per cent to 2.6 per cent, compared with the preceding month.

“The region is well-positioned” said Alfred Szorg, head of Ulm’s employment agency. “On the one hand, we have the lowest unemployment rate we have ever had in the month of February; on the other hand, we have the highest level of posts yet to be filled.”

In February, the employment agency received more than 1,700 placement orders from companies in the district, with more than 5,000 jobs to be filled.

That only 5 per cent less people have lost their jobs, compared to the previous year in February, Szorg sees as further evidence of the stable market. “In good economic times and through full utilization of production capacities, more employees can be retained.” says the Head of the employment agency. However, there is also a slight decrease in the number of unemployed people entering employment.
